Inspiring the Next Generation of Bold Thinkers/Designers
We're excited to share the incredible outcomes from this recent seminar on Intelligent Prefabrication at Wash U College of Architecture and Graduate School of Architecture & Urban Design, taught by Professor Chandler Ahrens and STUD-IO Founder Scott Mitchell.
Scott Mitchell Talks Hacking Machines at Steel Horizons
which took place in Boston at the Autodesk Technology Center. Among an amazing lineup of speakers, STUD-IO Founder Scott Mitchell’s talked about “Hacking the Howick: How mis-using machines is enabling the future of construction."
Demo our StudFinder™ Software
Focused on automation and parametric workflows, StudFinder makes it simple to create workflows that automatically produce machine files, parts lists, and assembly drawings for any structure you can think of.
3D Eiffel Tower at Batimat 2022
STUD-IO created a show-stopping steel stud Eiffel Tower for Batimat 2022, the World Construction Fair in Paris. It has been very exciting to see this fun project come to life!
One River North
Our BarBender software is helping fully automate the fabrication of the custom prefabricated panels for MAD Architects-designed One River North in Denver, Colorado
MSG Sphere at The Venetian
STUD-IO worked with KHS&S to develop an efficient approach to designing, fabricating, and installing the prefabricated panels that make up the MSG Sphere’s “collar” complex geometry.
The Portal Project
The Portal is an elaborate entryway to a 30,000 square foot medical office in Playa Vista, California. Designed by SLAM, STUD-IO was engaged by KHS&S Contractors to assist in the computational design and fabrication of the structure.
The STUD-IO team is growing
We welcome Adam Barnstorff to the team as Director of Computational Design. Adam has centered his career around advancing design technology and working with teams to integrate technologies into the design process.
1550 Euclid Street, Santa Monica
We are currently working on a 34,000 square foot mixed-use office building at 1550 Euclid Street in Santa Monica, California.
Presented at 2022 Steel Horizons in London
Founder Scott Mitchell recently presented at Howick’s 2022 Steel Horizons. Check out his presentation, which outlines how STUD-IO is pushing the boundaries of light steel fabrication.
Back at Autodesk Technology Center
It all begins with an idea.It feels great to be back in person at the Autodesk Technology Center. Above is one of our first structures assembled in the space since it has reopened.
STUD-IO and Howick Innovation Center
STUD-IO explores rapid fabrication of complex and curved geometry with steel studs, using the Howick XTENDA machine to fabricate telescopic studs, and generatively engineering load-bearing light-gauge systems.
