1550 Euclid Street
Santa Monica, CA

This three-story, mixed-use complex is designed to be a bold presence at the intersection of Euclid and Colorado. Vertical circulation is expressed on the exterior with sloping bands of windows. Inside, a dramatic, curving ceiling and staircase serves as connection between creative offices spaces above a large retail space on the ground floor.

Process

STUD-IO modularized the complex geometry of the curved interior feature into 15 prefabricated, light gauge frames. The frames are all unique, and they fit together like puzzle pieces on site to precisely realize Belzberg Architects’ design geometry. To aid in the accurate assembly and installation of each frame, STUD-IO generated 3D animations that were used by builders in the shop and on site.
